History
The Gasthof Loewen's history is over 600 years old, which is reflected in the varied period paintings, furnishings and room throughout.
The original area of the building dates from 1388 and served as an inn and viticulture. A winepress and extensive cellars were available to press the grape harvested from the "Stöcklerwingert" (Stöckler´s vineyard) facing south.

Its present day appearance is due to the elevation of the mansard roof and other extensions undertaken at the time of the French Revolution. In the Years thereafter the winepress premises, as well as the stable and barn were rebuilt.
During previous centuries, the Gasthof Loewen was not only one of the best and most important inns, but also one of the largest farm in the country.
The premises were completely renovated during 1986 - 89 to meet today´s standards and comfort requirements. The "Gasthof Löwen" has been one of the notable buildings that make up the Vaduz Residence since the 14th century.
Restored with care and respect in the eighties, the Gasthof Loewen, steeped in tradition, that once again emerged resplendent. Apparantly the very walls of this old house breathe history.
