Schellenberg is the smallest municipality in the Principality of Liechtenstein with an area of 355 hectars/877 acres and a population of 950.
It is situated 700 m/2,296 ft above sea level and is said to enchant visitors through its landscape and its hills and woods that claim to offer a stunning panorama of the nearby alps of Liechtenstein, Austria and Switzerland. Two well-run restaurants are said to offer the visitor a vast range of culinary delicacies - Schellenberg Hotels.
Local Area:
Although Schellenberg has only a population of around 1100 people, it is still one of Liechtenstein's most popular holiday locations. Tourists come from far and wide to stay, even just for a weekend, in this small but said to be "heavenly" region - Schellenberg Hotels.
Schellenberg is also the town where the oldest wooden residence in Liechtenstein is located. Built as a simple interlocking timber construction in 1518, the so-called Biedermann House stands in the center of town as a document of late medieval building culture and is open to the public.

Schellenberg History:
The history of the Principality started with the muncipality of Schellenberg which located on a hill. In 1699, Prince Johann Adam Andreas von Liechtenstein purchased the lands of Schellenberg, and 13 years later he bought the County of Vaduz.
Many of the historic landmarks can be visited whilsts staying at the Schellenberg Hotels.
